Swinging for the Fences – April 30th

Now that the season is in full swing and a majority of the huge pickups have been made (Berkman?), we’re officially in the grind.  Every little move, every little pickup, and every little start/benching has an effect in both head-to-head and Rotisserie leagues.  This where the champs start to emerge, don’t be one of those laissez-faire managers that miss out on the Ryan Braun’s and Tim Lincecum’s that tend to pop up mid-season.

The Pitch Count – Apr. 14

In this feature we will be examining different players values relevant to themselves as opposed to comparing them to others.  This will assist more in watch lists and team evaluations, as well as tracking players trending up or down.  We will have 3 categories:

3-0, taking all the way”  - which will highlight low risk, high reward players as well as streaking players that are most likely to maintain high levels of production.

0-2, fighting them off” – which will highlight players that are in dangerous waters, whether it be slumps, nagging injuries or player movements that could jeopardize a players fantasy value.

HBP, take your base” – which will highlight situations where it is time to outright cut your losses and move on. Continue reading this post…

NHL Playoff Pool Prep

I’m entering an NHL playoff pool tonight, as are many people out there.  The format is simple:  25 entrants, 10 rounds, no goalies, 1 point for Goals and 1 point for Assists.  It is amazing, though, that I searched high and low for a cheat sheet or player rankings to use as a starting point to prepare for this draft but there was nothing to be found!  So I thought to myself “Where could I find the advice of a knowledgeable hockey mind that had a vehicle to share this input with the world?  Wait a second… I know a guy who would be perfect for something like this!”  LOL… There was no easy way out of this one, so I spent a few hours compiling a list from scratch. Riding the Waiver Wire – Playoff Edition

Sometimes certain players get hot for whatever reason.  It could be due to a starter getting injured, or they won their coaches heart, or even because they simply got better or something clicked.  Whatever the reason is for a player to explode on to the scene is irrelevant.  What is relevant is that you keep up with the trends and make sure these guys somehow get on your roster.

The fantasy playoffs are umong us and now is the most important time to make an impact.
